First paintings

We did it! Wolf was officially introduced to the world of messy art. I was a little scared about it this time around but I am so glad we did! He did try  to eat the paint but after tasting a handful of brown he was a little more hesitant although he did taste a bit of each color.  Let's hear it for non toxic paint :)
Both the boys had fun and I got to enjoy watching them while I cooked dinner. B was very intentional with his brush strokes and was actually telling me about the things he was painting. Care to take a guess at what they were?.... how did  you know, yes they were trucks, cars, and trains, although he did mention a boat. (we have been reading the story of Noah's Ark  lately)
We all enjoyed this messy afternoon and I especially enjoyed the laughter and extra entertainment in  the kitchen. I might  just have to try this again soon.

How did this happen?

Well first of all, as you can see the boys break from each other was exactly what they needed, They are good friends again.

What I am referring to by the name of this post is W. How is he getting so big? I realized it more yesterday when we were playing in the back house. I usually keep the doors open to let in a breeze and so B to run around in the backyard and come back in as much as he wanted. Typically I station myself with W either inside or on a blanket in the grass. I have never had to worry about him crawling off as he hates the texture of the grass and the paved walkway. Until yesterday he and I were sitting inside and I was reading when I looked outside to check on B there was W wanting to play with the push car too. He crawled under the table and explored the yard on his own while I (attempted to stay calm) and observe from a distance. I finally interfered when the push car game started getting a little too rough. But both the boys had a blast having that little ounce of independence to explore the backyard. You should have heard the laughter from both of them as they smashed their faces against the glass at one other. So funny!

Being a brother

Sometimes being a brother is hard work (as explained by Bear and Wolf). You have to share your toys, and sometimes that doesn't work so well and one of us will end up in tears.

Sometimes little brothers heads weight more than the rest of their bodies and they are trying to master walking. And since neither of us know anything about personal space I (Bear)  end up being head butted at least a few times a day.

Sometimes older brothers don't like sharing and little brothers gets knocked on their bottoms before mama can come to my rescue.

Sometimes we need a break from each other. To take a breather and refocus ourselves.

And maybe after all that. We remember that we are still brothers who love each other.

Yesterday these boys needed a serious break from each other. It seems like all the day was, was wiping tears, redirecting the other and just plain ol' damage control. Half way through the day something had to change. Husband took B out for a papa date while I stayed home and had some one on one time with W. Well it seemed to work because today they were best friends all over again. So much so that they stayed up all day and chatted and laughed all through what was suppose to be their nap time. Somehow being on the same team turned on me because this mama is exhausted. Let's hope friendships and nap times will all go back to normal tomorrow.

Brothers

Bear so proud that he changed Wolf's diaper

"hey wait I was playing with that!!?"

These two little boys are starting to enjoy each others company. Bear is working on "sharing" or at least not taking  little brother toys out of his hands and running off and Wolf is working on getting those knees underneath him on order to retrieve the toys that are sometimes taken away :). Wolf is totally in love with his big brother and beams when he sees him and Bear is quick to return the affection with kisses that are often not too gentle.  They also enjoy post nap time conversations with each other from their cribs and it is melts my heart to hear them laughing together.
Oh yes the thought of  these two boys one day running around playing together is so exciting but also pretty scary. What kind of trouble will they get into together? My biggest prayer is that they will remain close and be best friends forever.

The many faces of Wolf

This baby is growing so much everyday. He is full of laughs and all kinds of fun. He has recently started a little solids. We are trying baby led weaning and it seems to be going great. He is eating A LOT more than I thought he was going to when I do offer it and it really is so cool to watch him explore and eat as much as he wants. He loves his jumper and loves to be upright. And I love the fact that he and B actually interact while he's it.
He sure does love big brother. He gets so excited when B makes faces and talks to him. He is such a good sport which is great because B has not quite mastered the "gentle" touch yet. He likes going on walks but falls asleep within the first 5 minutes every time. Hats are a torture device if left on while in his car seat. And loves to be given raspberries on his tummy.
I am so amazed as to how fast he is growing and although I must admit to getting a bit sad by that I know that I have so much more to look forward to.  Thank you Mr. Wolf for being so awesome.
