We love the library

library
1. scoping out the place before his first steps  2. meeting new friends at the Duplo table
 3. Our loot 4. this morning at story time
Yesterday we decided to make it a field trip day. We have been stuck in the house for a while now and with the the forecast warning of 100 degree weather yesterday we were desperate to find refuge from the heat.

We hit the library after breakfast. All was normal. We were finding new friends to play with, B found a compilation book of four Richard Scarry books in one. (He loves  those books) but something happened that turned our outing from a nice one to a FANTASTIC one.

There in the middle of the children's section of the library W took his first official steps. Four tiny wobbly ones with a look in his eye of sheer joy and determination.  As one can imagine my library voice went out the window for the moments, as I couldn't help but cheer him on. That little look on his face was so priceless and it is one of those things that I hope to never forget.

We made it home with some pretty good loot and we loved our time there so much that we went back this morning for story time.

My Little Helper

Recently B has become quite the little helper in the house. He loves to sweep (mainly push the broom in the direction of his brother) he has attempted to help vacuum a few times and is always eager to help me put away the dishes, although that one is a little scary I have to admit.

It really got me to thinking just how much these little ones are taking in and mimicking their everyday life.  Sure I think that mimicking my cleaning is cute and a good lesson for him but what else I am I teaching him by my everyday behavior? Am I setting  a good example of what it is like to be kind, and caring towards others, to love God and and make Him part of your everyday life and have a relationship with Him?  Well I have to admit, not always.

I sometimes have little patience with people and can sometimes be critical (ouch, I hate admitting this) and as far as my relationship with God although it's there I can't say I set an example to seek Him first in all I do. This is a great reminder of what I need to shift in my life to make these things come more effortlessly to me in order to easily show my boys what to "mimic" in  their lives.

First paintings

We did it! Wolf was officially introduced to the world of messy art. I was a little scared about it this time around but I am so glad we did! He did try  to eat the paint but after tasting a handful of brown he was a little more hesitant although he did taste a bit of each color.  Let's hear it for non toxic paint :)
Both the boys had fun and I got to enjoy watching them while I cooked dinner. B was very intentional with his brush strokes and was actually telling me about the things he was painting. Care to take a guess at what they were?.... how did  you know, yes they were trucks, cars, and trains, although he did mention a boat. (we have been reading the story of Noah's Ark  lately)
We all enjoyed this messy afternoon and I especially enjoyed the laughter and extra entertainment in  the kitchen. I might  just have to try this again soon.

Loving these boys

During mother's day I totally forgot to mention just how much I enjoy being a mama to these beautiful boys. I feel so blessed to have them in my life.

A world all in red

Isn't it amazing what kids find most entertaining?  It is so cool to watch.
