Easter's on its way!!!

There are so many wonderful things about Spring. Flowers blooming, more sunshine and of course Easter. Although the whole lunar calendar always throws me off but never the less it is a holiday that we are so blessed to celebrate. The boys Bubbie sent over a few simple Easter story books that we have been reading together and she actually lead me to Hubbard's Cupboard. They have an awesome lesson plan for 2 year olds that ties in crafts, scripture and fun activities for the whole month. I read through it and the basis of the lesson plan sounds simple and fun while leaving a few spots that I may want to change or add on to. What's great is that most of the activities shown are either with things that you might already have in your art supplies or items that you could easily pick up at your local dollar store.

Our first activity we tried was this eraser sorting game. I picked up a couple packs of these erasers at the dollar store and pulled out a few small plastic containers for the boys to sort with. At first I placed one type of eraser in each container letting B sort out the rest. He quickly got the hang of it and did it a few more times before starting to make simple patterns on the table with them. W got the idea of sorting but not putting them in each container. After he sorted them he would place them back in one container and do it again.

I enjoyed the fact that it was a perfect dinner making game since it is easy to clean up and it kept the boys occupied for some time. Definitely something that we will be doing again through out the month.

*** p.s. in the first image you can spot Bear's sport injury on his forehead that I mentioned in this post. What a trooper. **

outdoor babies

smelling/eating the flowers

The warm weather has really enticed us to spend as much time outside as possible. Even a few evenings after dinner have been spent soaking up the last bit of daylight. Just a blanket and a few blocks for W.

These pictures are so far some of my favorites. B smelling or eating flowers is just so him. Always curious and excited to find new things. And W's sweet face is a perfect reflections if his sweet nature and slightly drooly which is also totally him right now.  I am in love.

Haircut army style

Husband and I have been talking about the fact that B was in need of a first real haircut for a while (up until now I usually just trim around his ears myself) Husband mentioned he could do it himself. I thought we both had the same idea in mind, clean up the sides, maybe trim the top and call it a day.
Husband called B into the bathroom after his routine hair and beard trim. I grabbed the camera so excited that my little guy was going to get a his first real trim. He seemed so excited to be like his papi.
I was in shock when his first buzz was STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF HIS HEAD!!!!! WHATTTTTT!!!!??? This is not exactly what we had talked about. I wanted to scream but Bear was so calm and happy that I couldn't ruin it for him. He was loving this time with his dad.
After the panic wore off I recalled husband telling me that when he was younger he would get a buzz cut every spring and how he actually liked it. (talking to my MIL she was also not to thrilled by this :)) So what do you do when you see two boys you love smiling and content and sharing a memory? You put your mommy vanity aside and you cheer your son on for doing so great during his first "spring cleaning haircut"
It will grow. That is the mantra.

This weather...

This weather is for...
laying out on a blanket and wishing you could take a nap
for painting
for a certain little one to discover sitting up a little better
for getting out of our little home and smell the sweet smell of spring around the corner

We have been teased with what I hope to be a preview of what spring will be like here. It has been sunny and amazing. I never knew I liked the sun so much until it lacked in my life. The boys seem to like it too, although I am still getting use to the habit of making sure my fair skinned babies are well covered. My husband has SUPER sensitive skin and we do not want to out our little guys at risk until we are pretty well aware of their sun tolerance. For now at least it gives me the chance to accessories.
