Hats and sweaters required

We live in an old building where our building manager controls the heat and sometimes..... It just doesn't come on. HA! We are forced to wear our hats and sweaters indoors. Good thing my mom loves knitting husband and I hats and scarves. Thanks mom!!!!! We really don't get mad about it. It's just one of those stories we'll tell about our first year married and our tiny, drafty apartment. XOXO

Little things make me happy

Did you know that some cereals still do free toys inside the box!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't think so. I was about to have a bowl of Apple Jacks yesterday when all of a sudden there it was in all it's glory a tiny plush Pluto doll. I don't even like Pluto all that much but who cares!!!! There was a toy in my cereal box!!!! It felt like Christmas day, like I was 5 years old all over again. I wonder how many kids now have actually experienced this recently. I hope my kids will someday still have that joy in the simple sweet things in life. So if any cereal CEO ever reads this BRING BACK THE TOYS!!!! THANK YOU APPLE JACKS!!!

no makeup required

Today is one of those great, super lazy days the type that you wake up in time for lunch. HA. NO need to get dressedor put on makeup. (**love***) It's raining today which at first made me a bit sad because all the really pretty sunshiny days have been when I'm at work (which doesn't even have windows) but I think it God's way of telling me to slow down, stay home and just enjoy that. I lit my pumpkin spice candle (it felt appropriate for this weather) and have nothing written on my agenda for the rest of the day. Maybe some tea and a movie at home with husband later but absolutely no expectation. ** sigh** I needed this!!

This is my last painting I finished before I went on vacation I just haven't gotten around to posting it. It's really how I fell about husband and I. We are at a really exciting place in our lives where something is about to change. We just need to be opened to it.

Happy Lazy Monday!!!! <3 <3

I'm back!!!!!!

Hello everyone,

After a fantastic vacation to visit my family in California and then a girls weekend to Salt Lake. I am finally back home and rested enough to start blogging again. (why are vacations even more exhausting than real life). I've had a little creative dry spell lately. I think I've had to be too present for real life that I am not able to day dream as much :) Boo!!! to having to pay attention to real life. Oh well I know the creative juices will start flowing any minute.
The picture on top is of my favorite Japanese soda. Husband had one waiting for me in the car when he picked me up from the airport along with Hello Kitty candy that tasted like a strawberry milkshake (so yummy!!) and spicy prawned flavored chips. (they sound gross but they are so good) Isn't he just the sweetest. Well I'm off to be present in real life. I promise I'll drop by more often

It's finally finished!!!!

So here is the final product. It's a really basic dress the top is made out of jersey and it has a thick elastic waist band as part of the decoration and of course this fabric. I am actually really proud of the finished product it was a bit more challenging than I thought being that the skirt fabric is hand woven it unraveled easily but I managed and best of all it is so comfortable. It definitely got bumped up to one of my favorite things to wear.

The end product worn by me. Husband was making me laugh to much and this is the best picture we got. HA oh well you get the idea.
I leave you with one of my favorite pictures of my brother and his family. It was taken the day I moved up to Portland and despite the very emotional goodbye they still managed to still look completely adorable. Just a few more days until I get to see them.
xoxo

Valentines day right around the corner

Normally I don't really think that Valentines day is a big deal but this year I will be in California visiting my family while husband will be at home. :( and suddenly the idea of pink and red hearts everywhere is dancing around my head. Last year we had a 1970's themed valentines picnic. It really was as funny as it sounds. Stripped socks, short shorts, (both him and I. HA!!!) and Farah Fawcett hair. It was so great. But this year I have to either leave a present or wait until I get back. I think that when it comes to Valentines day the more cheesy the better.

I found this cute idea on Martha Stewart's website it seems like just the right about of cheesy. Now if only I could find a place that has Hello Kitty Cupid that would deliver these to him. I'm joking.....sort of
